Whole House Water Filter and Filter Housings FAQs

Whole House Filters FAQs

Can I use SpiroPure whole house filters on hot water?

Whole house water filters should be installed at the water main before the water heater for optimal performance. Carbon media in particular performs better at cold temperatures.

Will a whole house water filter help with PH levels in water?

Whole house water filters do not directly affect the pH of water. Removal of certain minerals and contaminants by the water filtration system may decrease the overall pH of the water, but in general, to address pH issues it is best to use an alkaline filter or a distillation system.

Will your SpiroPure whole house filter reduce nitrates or nitrites?

No. Traditional water filter systems such as SpiroPure SP-WH200 and SpiroPure SP-WH300 will not remove nitrates or nitrites from water. To reduce nitrates and nitrites, a reverse osmosis system, ion exchange system with a strong base anion resin, or distillation is needed. We do have SpiroPure Reverse Osmosis Systems available.

Can I reverse the direction of water flow for the system?

Reversing the water flow direction is not advisable or recommended. Doing so will void the warranty as parts can be damaged in the process leading to potential leaks and water damage.

Water Filter Housing FAQs

What is the flow rate / GPM for your filter housings?

SpiroPure filter housings and any filter housing you encounter on the market will not have a flow rate. This is because the expected flow rate will be determined by the filter cartridges you choose to purchase and install inside of the housings.

Can I reverse the water flow direction by installing the inlet on the left and the outlet on the right?

Reversing the water flow direction is not advisable or recommended. Doing so will void the warranty as parts can be damaged in the process leading to potential leaks and water damage.
